Our Impact Report from FY 20-21
FROM THE FRIENDS | We are pleased to share our Fiscal Year 2020-201 Impact Report!
OUR MISSION
The Friends of the Amesbury Public Library are a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that formed back in 1991. Our sole mission and goal is to support the Library, its staff, and its programming, and we’ve been going strong ever since. We help to promote the Library as a vital and thriving resource in our community, help fund some of the programming including genealogy programs, museum passes, speaker events, summer reading programs, technology and more!
OUR IMPACT
Over the course of the last year, the Amesbury community stepped up and rallied around the mission of our Library. Throughout the tumultuous months of 2020-2021, the Library’s staff created exciting new programs that conformed with public health guidelines, and the Friends of the Amesbury Public Library were hard at work raising funds for those programs. These efforts were buoyed by the unprecedented generosity of our community. In the fiscal year ending June 30, 2021, the Friends of the Amesbury Public Library funded programs and resources that kept our community engaged in the life of the Library, including:
60 participants attended 6 holiday greens workshops. In 2020, these ever-popular events were held virtually.
774 take-home storytime and craft kits that engaged kids and families in literacy, science experiments, and outdoor activities.
280 participants attended 7 virtual “Talk Art-y to Me” art history programs.
3 wifi hotspots, which are just some of the in-demand items in the library’s gallery of lendable gadgets.
The purchase of 20 new poetry books for Cashman and Amesbury Elementary School libraries.
Materials for the 2021 Summer Reading program, a hallmark program that engages hundreds of kids and teens each year.
Many thanks to our members, business supporters and community advocates who helped us make it possible!
